Meet Mr. Johnson

Dear families and visitors,

I would like to welcome you to Prophetstown Lyndon Tampico High School. It is my honor to serve you as the principal of such a great school. I am sure you will find PLTHS to be a solid educational and social experience.  PLTHS offers a good combination of curricular and extra-curricular classes and activities.

A student who actively participates in all walks of high school will find his/her school experience enriching and a strong base for future endeavors whether it be college or career minded.  Being involved in school activities will help prepare students in building goal setting skills, leadership and teamwork.  These skills are often requested by employers in our area and across the country.

PLTHS is a growing school of almost 300 students situated in Prophetstown Il, just 30 miles east of the Mississippi River.  On behalf of the faculty, we would like to welcome you to PLTHS.  Here at PLTHS we have a history of fine academic and extra-curricular accomplishments.  As a member of the Three Rivers Athletic Conference we compete with some of the most competitive high schools in the state of Illinois.  We are dedicated to make our school a successful and educationally challenging learning environment.

I am proud to live in a community like Prophetstown and to work for a school district that is progressive and on the cutting edge of what works in schools.  This can be found in our rigorous curriculum in all subject areas, and integration of technology in all classrooms. We have recently become one to one with Chromebooks, which our students have adapted to exponentially. We also offer multiple online courses through SAUK Valley Community College and Illinois Virtual School for higher level / dual credit math and science classes. PLTHS is always on the lookout for new and innovative ways to make our students successful.

Lastly, it is my goal this year to create clear lines of communication to the community and parents. A PLTHS Facebook page has been created that I would encourage you to follow. Also, please feel free to call, email, or stop by anytime.

Sincerely,

Josh Johnson
