Meet Mr. Kastorff

Mr. Steven Kastorff is the principal at Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico Middle School. Mr. Kastorff earned his B.A. degree in History from Illinois State University in 1988. He started his educational career at Wilson Middle School in Moline as a middle school American History and World Geography teacher. During his career in education he has enjoyed coaching at the middle and high school levels and being an IHSA athletic official. He obtained his M.S. in Sports Management and his certification in Administration both from Western Illinois University.

Mr. Kastorff and his wife Beth have two children their daughter Andrea is a physical education teacher for the Des Moines Public Schools, and their son Paul is serving in the U.S. Navy. Beth is a middle school teacher in Geneseo.

PLT Middle School

Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico Middle School is a safe school, located in a scenic area along the Rock River in Prophetstown, Illinois. The building was newly constructed in 2012. We educate students in grades 6-8. The student teacher ratio for our building is approximately 17 students per teacher, allowing for a student-focused approach to learning. Students are offered a comprehensive curriculum, consisting of both core academic classes and exploratory courses. As a result of staff collaboration and determination, PLT Middle School sets high standards and has consistently achieved academic success. Education is further supported by a 1:1 technology initiative which allows all students to have a Chromebook in the classroom and at home.

Student extracurriculars are also very important to PLT Middle School. Students have the opportunity to participate in various activities, including volleyball, basketball, track, wrestling, quiz bowl, student council, band, and choir. Over the years, students have enjoyed success in our track and music programs.

At Prophetstown-Lyndon-Tampico Middle School, we are dedicated to working with all of our students. Our dedicated staff works hard to provide students with an enriching educational experience, making PLT Middle School a fantastic school for our students and community.
