Today for science Mrs. DeCrane took 3rd grade outside to experience the magic of the Ginkgo tree. An amazing detail about the Ginkgo Tree is that it loses all of its leaves in a day or less. The kids were very happy to get to see it happen and experience it!

Please take some time to consider this amazing opportunity through the 4-H Extension Office!

Our 3rd graders got to enjoy some time with the residents at Winning Wheels on Halloween. The students got to visit Winning Wheels and trick-or-treat with the residents. We are so thankful that this tradition is coming back!

You might have noticed that our Flag looks a little different at PES! Thank you to Mrs. Barton's Kindergarten class for changing out our Flag just in time for Veteran's Day. The Kindergarten students learned about the history of the Flag, what each part of the Flag represents, and how to properly fold the Flag.

Come help us honor our Veterans at 10am on Monday at PES!

Congratulations to Mrs. Schillaci and Jonny Krafft for showing our September characteristic of the month: COOPERATIVE. Each was recognized by their peers for their outstanding Cooperation in helping making our school the best it can be!

A couple mishaps in the November newsletter:
Family Reading Night: Thursday, November 21st
Election Day: Tuesday, November 5th
Sorry about the confusion.

Last Thursday was a spook-tacular time at the PreK Family Halloween Night! Thank you to all of the families who attended! Students came dressed in their costumes ready to party! They crafted, decorated pumpkins, created yummy snacks, and enjoyed getting their faces painted!
Thank you to PFS Members who helped facilitate the evening, Mitchell's Pumpkins for the donation of pumpkins, Sweet Butts Cotton Candy for the favors, and PHS Art Club Members for the donation of their time for face painting!

Miss Cayson-Roth's class entered a giveaway with Prodigy. Prodigy is a free educational website that works on developing Math and English skills. It is game based, but the questions are based on their level they placed in their placement test. The teacher can also assign specific skills for the kids!
Not only did they win the giveaway they also recieved merchandise and the cards with codes in order to work on their skills at home. The recognition continues as well because they also were the winners of the Illinois grade levels competition:
Every two weeks the game runs a “competition” between grade levels in the state. From September 15-September 29 our class answered the most questions!

This year we are honoring a student and staff member of the month who really exemplified our characteristic of the month. Septembers characterstic of the month was RESPECTFUL! Students nominated their classmates that they saw were respectful throughout the month. This month's winners were:
Sutton Bebon: For asking someone to play with him when they didn't have anyone to play with.
Miss Thies: For showing respect for both students and staff
For his reward Sutton chose to sit at Mrs. Morse's desk. Thank you to Blooms-a-Latte for providing gift cards to our staff member of the month! We truely appreciate our small businesses!

Please consider signing up for this amazing opportunity from our University of Illinois Extension office and Whiteside County 4-H!

Quote of the day: "I've never met a football player, today is the best day ever" . Thank you to the EP Panther Football Team for visiting the PES students this morning for recess.
